Women in Leadership Partnership with Less Than 100

At Coro, we want to connect diverse groups across the city in order to encourage collaboration and ensure that our Coro participants and alumni have access to the greatest network possible. For our Women in Leadership program, this means we create partnerships with women’s organizations and individuals that are committed to improving the status of women in Southwestern Pennsylvania. These partners act as subject-matter experts and hosts for our Women in Leadership cohort.

We are pleased to announce that this month Women in Leadership is partnering with Less Than 100, a pop-up shop for the month of April designed to promote gender equity. Less Than 100 will host Women in Leadership for their session on April 28. We encourage you to learn more about supporting their pop-up shop on Facebook.

Elana Schlenker is an independent graphic designer and art director specializing in identity, print, environmental, and interactive projects primarily for artists and cultural organizations, nonprofits, and startups. Her clients include the Center for Urban Pedagogy, International Center of Photography, Charles H. Revson Foundation, Mental Health Association of New York, University of Pittsburgh, and the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, among many others. She is also the publisher of Gratuitous Type, an occasional magazine of graphic design and typography. In 2013, Elana was named to Print magazine’s New Visual Artist list, a prestigious annual distinction that recognizes the industry’s top 20 creative talents under the age of 30. Prior to the establishment of her studio practice, Elana worked as an art director at Condé Nast and senior designer at Princeton Architectural Press.
Her latest endeavor, <100, is a mobile pop-up shop that celebrates women artists and entrepreneurs while raising awareness about gender wage inequality. The organization’s pilot project, 76<100 will take place at 4901 Penn Avenue in Pittsburgh, PA from Wednesday, April 1 until Thursday, April 30. Open daily from 12:00 - 7:00 pm for shopping, 76<100 will offer work by women artists, makers and small business owners based in the US, including handmade objects (ceramics, textiles, etc), art and photography prints, books and magazines, stationery, and packaged food. Items will be carefully curated, with an eye toward representing artists from diverse backgrounds and locations (including regional artists) as well as providing a range of price points. These items will be sold for full price to male shoppers, while women (including individuals who identify as women) will pay 76% of the listed price.
In fall 2015, the project will travel to New Orleans as 66<100, renamed to reflect the wage gap in the state of Louisiana. <100 is supported by the Women and Girls Foundation, Sprout Fund, Soup N’at, and the Platforms Fund.
