Catalytic Projects give Coro Fellows the opportunity to co-design system interventions and collaborate with various organizations to implement and learn from the project. Each Fellow will work for a total of 30 weeks on one or more projects sponsored by Coro partners.
Project sponsors have the opportunity to co-design catalytic projects along with Coro Fellows and Coro staff. Sponsors also mentor and collaborate with Fellows in order to support project-based learning and accomplishment of deliverables. Coro Fellows work on their projects four full days each week and participate in a daylong seminar once each week.
Fellows are available for catalytic projects during four project cycles:
The number of cycles and number of Fellows is determined by the scope of a project. When a project spans multiple placement cycles, we ask that Fellows rotate during each project cycle. This could look like having different Coro Fellows each cycle to work on a phase of the project or having Coro Fellows placed in the office of a different project collaborator each cycle to work on the same project. The Fourth Project Cycle is for the Independent Project, a six-week project that each Coro Fellow is required to secure on his or her own. In some cases, but not all, the Coro Fellow may choose to carry over work from an earlier project into their Independent Project.
The Coro Fellows Program is made possible with financial support from the R.K. Mellon Foundation and The Pittsburgh Foundation. Additionally, the Program is supported through the many organizations that collaborate and mentor Coro Fellows on Catalytic Projects. Project sponsors have included:
