I was pleased to read about the Leaders in Learning Program and the work around universal screening for gifted children. Educational equity is extremely important in our schools. As a former CORO board member I am always impressed with the excellent work that the Leaders in Learning program accomplishes in an effort to strengthen education in our city schools. As a former board member I participated in several Leaders and Leanings programs and I was always impressed with the dedication and commitment to children and education. The program truly prepares participants to emerge having a better understanding of the need for quality education. As a child advocate representing abused, neglected and at risk youth for the last 15 years I see first hand every day the importance that education plays in the lives of children. It is extremely important that all children have education equity and access to excellent public education. Our schools play such an important role in the lives of our children and the Leaders and Learning program continues to produce quality programs and strong leaders for the educators in our city.
