Pittsburgh, PA — Coro Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA will host Ntandoyenkosi Dumani from Kulani Trust in Zimbabwe through the Department of State’s Community Solutions Program. Coro Pittsburgh was chosen as one of 60 U.S. organizations to host Community Solutions Leaders from more than 30 countries this fall. This is Coro Pittsburgh’s second year participating in the program.

While at Coro Pittsburgh, Ntandoyenkosi will explore how leadership training programs can promote transparency and accountability in his home government. By immersing himself in the culture of Coro and the Pittsburgh community, Ntandoyenkosi hopes to build skills that he can transfer to his work in Zimbabwe, which is focused on building the capacity of young people to hold local government duty barriers to account on housing service delivery.

Ntandoyenkosi will also be sharing his skills with Coro in the areas of problem analysis, team building, organizational development, constructive dialogue, training and facilitation. He has led the Zimbabwe National University Debate Championships as a lead debate trainer and Public Speaking adjudication panel chair. Ntandoyenkosi has also served as a national chairperson of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Youth Leadership Course Alumni Association responsible for overseeing programming and alumni outreach programs and has led the Zimbabwean Delegation to the Southern African Regional Youth Forum. He currently coordinates the Plumtree Community Radio initiative on a voluntary basis. He is a social and political commentator and writes on his blog, Humble Thoughts.

Greg Crowley, President and CEO of Coro Pittsburgh, says “We are thrilled to have Ntandoyenkosi as our second Community Solutions Fellow. Our relationship with Community Solutions is a true exchange. The Fellows share their first-hand experience in the challenges facing emerging democracies. They learn from Coro the value of building democracy from the ground up by preparing individuals for the demands of civic engagement.”

The Community Solutions Program is a professional development program for the best and brightest global community leaders working in the fields of transparency and accountability, tolerance and conflict resolution, environmental issues and women’s issues. The program matches global leaders with organizations across the United States to collaborate on projects and leave better positioned to make lasting change in their home communities.
