The 2015-2016 Coro Fellows in Public Affairs were honored to sit down with first-term Councilman Dan Gilman last week at the Coro salon for an “off the record” conversation focused on leadership, community development, and Gilman’s experience as both a legislator and city staffer.

Part of a year-long series of leadership interviews with notable public and private sector figures, Gilman spoke at length to the Fellows about his path to city council, his views on equitable development and affordable housing, and how he works with his city council colleagues to affect change on a local level.

“It was particularly inspiring to hear Councilman Gilman talk about the ability to affect change as a local leader,” said Coro Fellow Robert Burack, of Flint, MI. “Cities and their public sector leaders have become front-line innovators in the US, especially as national and state leaders and policy-shapers are increasingly gridlocked and ineffective.”
